Upon our VHF call, a boat was waiting for us to guide Archimede to a place in the fairly small harbour under impressive rising cliffs.
Luckily there is a lift to take you to the top and down (up to 20:00h, then you are on your own to walk the 5 hairpins down. Thus we got back from Sorrento at 9:30....)
We went to Sorrento with a small train and thought to go to a quiet country town. Wrong, Sorrento is a town completely build for tourists only; hotels and AirB&B, while also cruise ships dump off their large loads of tourists (mainly pensioned Americans). We had a nice pizza and a Lacryma Christi at a reasonable 25€ while other wines got up to 600€.
Next day we took the little train to Seiano, a small village on a cliff and walked down about 8 hairpins to the waterfront. Had a drink and some lunch. Hélène set her sights on the next village Vico Equense on another cliff with access via a path and 1200 steps dating back 2653 years. The scooter was no help here it was all climbing by feet. H. was very proud that I made it.
So we saw some more churches and had a beer. Took the little train back to Piano and in time for the lift to the port. Then had a swim from the volcanic beach in clear water with a film of oil on top.
Saturday hiding from the wind and shopping. Sunday of to the Amalfi coast.
